First of all I am very thankful to Mr. Herbst that he bring to us these talks which are very interesting. I chose “The thrilling potential of SixthSense technology” video by Pranav Mistry. In this video Pranav bring to us the new sense in addition to our five senses. He actually transfer our real gesture into digital frame by using the rollers that embedded in the mouse which control the Custer in our computer, some strings, pulleys and spring. He made interaction between the real world and dummy one or the digital one, as he interested more about this interaction he begin to bring another forms of our daily life to this dummy world or computer world by integrate his mother notes on a paper to his list to do application or receive it like a SMS, other example of attach sensor with pen and start create shapes in air but it is in screen of computer. By his interaction work he made the computer more aware from objects for example when he put a cup of coffee, the computer will give him where he can get more coffee or where he throw away the cup. So he made the computer give us more information rather what we need without asking it which reflect a solid interaction and connection. After all these achievements by making connection between the two totally different worlds and transfer things from real world to digital world, for his observation to people, he found the people more thirsty to get knowledge so he started to do the opposite thing by taking out things from digital world which is contain huge and solid information and put them in our real world, by using simple and cheap technology and small camera as  a digital eye by that he create his digital world which can carry it everywhere, by this device he now can apply the digital word to real world on any type of surface, for example you can draw any shape you want with any color with any size by your bare hand. You can take photos by your hand and you can edit them share them. He change the ideology of our dealing with objects.

In my opinion, as a civil engineer I really like the idea of using the pen to edit shapes and the way that we can control the objects. It’s very interesting to know there is like this technology which focuses to make people’s life easier. The most important thing how this person simple and how his vision is clear by made things from simple and cheap things and his aim to make this technology available for everyone which reflect that all people around the world should gain and get advantage from development of technology that totally different from the idea of many companies which they just want to monopoly the ideas.

Once upon a time, in an ancient Chinese manuscript. There was a story talking about white lion of rare species and a brave knight. The white lion was caught in China’s jangle and transferred to the zoo in in New York City where it should stay. When it is arrived to the harbor, a horse cart moved him from the harbor to the zoo. When the horse cart reached the Brooklyn Bridge, something got wrong to one of the two horses that pulling the cart, so there speed were getting too fast. The coachman loosed his control on the horses and then the cart flipped and rolled; therefore, lion’s cage opened and the lion got out of it. The lion was nervous and panic because of the long confinement and weird place. As a result of the bad situation, the lion attacked a small child who is ten years old, in the same moment there was a knight wearing iron armor walking on the bridge. The armor knight jumped immediately and put his armor arm in the lion’s mouth, yet his arm in danger to be eaten. The knight beat and through him from the Brooklyn Bridge. omar: Proverbs

Hi Omar, I think we share the same thing about the proverb more popular between older people. I totally agree with you about the idea of transfer the proverb from generation to the next one, It's part from our culture and they are really useful when you stick with situation you can't express about it but by saying one proverb can solve the problem. It's good to know that proverbs in most of global language.

My Regards,

I like your proverb that you chose, I think it similar to this saying "Don't Count your chickens before they hatch" I agree with you it's a good lesson to learn that we never depend on or take decision about something is not one our hand or we can't predict if we will gain it or not.

Proverbs in English
It was very interesting to know that English contain many proverbs or sayings like in my Arabic language. Proverb is a good way to make our speech more comprehensive and shorter, as I learned that most of proverb came from the past experience of the people and it’s exactly what I have in my mother language, in additional, through my classes in ALP and knowing people from different countries I know that the saying in all languages. Through the speak up class last semester I learned a lot of idioms and I discovered that it’s one of the important part from American culture and American people used to use the proverb in their speech like; put the cart before the horse, strike while the iron is hot and what will be, will be. In my home country the using of proverbs is common between the old generation rather than between the young people. Actually, the young generation invented their proverbs by themselves which are like a slang language and some time they use the common proverbs.
My favorite proverb is Keep your fingers crossed, which is mean I wish you a good luck, I remember when heard that proverb first time in university between two students and how they sign to each other. I was wondering what’s that means, but through my speak class I learned the meaning of it, and I start to us it, which was like a surprise special to my American friends. Also, my best friend used to say I feel blue which something strange to me, people use a lot of proverbs in their speech and it’s like a traditional thing which is a challenge for us as an international students but by time we will learn most of them.
“Knowledge is like a garden: if it is not cultivated, it cannot be harvested”
I like this proverb and it’s totally true. In my opinion the knowledge is something that has no end and we need to feed our knowledge continuously even if we achieve our goals from it, the development in our world now days faster than in past and that development touch all the field of knowledge so we should continue refine and take care from our knowledge by read books, watch documentaries and do research in our field or other fields. As we learn more as our knowledge expend.
